Welcome To The “Children Of God” Devotional Series
What Happened To Me?
There is so much confusion among Christians about what happened to them when they became a child of God. Many simply go back to living life just as they had before. Sure, now they go to church and maybe stop swearing or telling dirty jokes. They make a few “token” changes to the way they live and feel like they are living life to the full. That isn’t what God had in mind.
You’re A Child Of GOD!
Christianity is a power filled life. God made all your old life pass away and gave you a whole new life to live. However, many Christians either don’t know about that old life passing away and the new life coming to take its place, or they don’t know how to take advantage of it. This new life is yours like a million dollars being deposited into your checking account at your bank. If you don’t know it is there or you don’t know how to access it, it doesn’t do you any good.
The Power Of God
Demonstrate, Yield, And Meet
This Devotional Series is addressing the power of God on three levels: how to demonstrate the power of God, how to yield to the power of God, and how to meet the power of God in person. If your car battery runs out of power, you won’t be able to use your car. And, it won't be able to take you places. The motor is capable of working perfectly and doing powerful things. That is the way your Christian experience is, if you take your new life and keep it connected to Jesus, it is capable of working perfectly and doing powerful things.
Demonstrating The Power Of God
When you became a child of God, no matter what age you were when you came to Jesus, you were born as a baby child of God. This is typically hard for new children of God to understand. Since you have been a human for quite some time, it seems like that should pass over into your age as a child of God; but, it doesn’t. Just like you had to learn everything from scratch as baby human, you will have to do the same thing as a child of God.
Learning how to demonstrate the power of God will take on a very uncoordinated set of activities. If you are struggling with pride, self-confidence, and self-esteem, you journey will be difficult and slow. If you are willing to start from the beginning and flow in Jesus’ training, your spiritual growth will be steady and very rewarding. If you have been a Christian for some time but haven’t been given the quality and quantity of Biblical training you have needed, your spiritual age will facilitate your learning and growing at a faster rate.

Yielding To The Power Of God
Salvation has helped you immediately start demonstrating various aspects of the fact that you are a child of God. Just like a human baby is able to demonstrate the fact that they are alive, so did you as a new Christian. However, being a human baby is only the beginning. All those things that come natural to a human infant are good and exciting, but you know they have a lot of learning to do. No matter how long you have lived as a human and no matter how long you have been a Christian, you have spiritual needs that MUST be taken care of.
Being teachable, being open to Jesus’ authority in your life, and being able to unlearn things and replace them with Biblical truths, will all decide how fast and how well you grow. Even though some things are coming natural to you as a Christian, the same educational requirements that were put on you as a human are now being put on you as a child of God. Yielding to Jesus and His training will, however, count not only for living this temporary life, it will increase your opportunities in all of eternity.
Meeting The Power Of God
Whether you had good parents or not, when you were born into God’s family, you got the best Father in all of existence. You got the best Savior in all of existence. And, you got the best trainer through the Holy Spirit in all of existence. Meeting God is the greatest part of Christianity. Experiencing His power, His provisions, and His principles are wonderful. But, meeting Him is what it is all about. The power, the provisions, and the principles start coming into your life as representatives of Who God is.
You have needs and it is typical for all Christians to start their relationship with God based on the fact that these needs are too big for the person. However, the love, attention, generosity, and grace of God are where you experience Who God is. If you see all that He does for you as love, relationship, attention, acceptance, respect, and appreciation for you, then the things you get from God will melt your heart. You will meet Him and accept a relationship with Him that draws you into fellowship, talking together, getting to know one another, and a love relationship. |
