Honest inquirers or sincere seekers are people who don’t know whether or not Jesus is real; but, they WANT to know the truth about Him. They use many of the same objections and challenges as a person who is a permanent rejecter, because Satan has lied to them. The honest inquirers need these objections answered so they can start to believe. They sincerely think that Jesus isn’t real and that Christianity is false. Satan and his workers have convinced them that Christianity doesn’t work by giving them lying proof that is keeping them from coming to Jesus.

They may start out resisting you with a lot of vehemence; but don’t let that scare you off. Keep helping them understand God’s truth. If you find out that their resistance is because they really want to believe Christianity is false, then they aren’t honest inquirers.

Here is an example of the honest inquirer.

Acts 17:11 (NIV) Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

They aren’t rejecting the message because they want to reject it. They just want to make sure it is true. Consequently they put out their concerns to us so they can see what we have to say about them. If we can answer their objections and help them see that what we are saying is true, then they will believe and receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
