Rom 7:22 (NIV) For in my inner being I delight in God’s law.

This is the way it is inside of a true Christian. The want they have for God and the things of God is on the level of a delight. They would be thrilled to be able to forgive the person they are holding a grudge against. Forgiveness just isn’t something they can produce on their own; but, God has done something in their inner being that is going to bring that forgiveness into reality.

The person seeking salvation by praying this prayer, and the new or untrained Christian is going to pursue God with intensity until He produces forgiveness in their heart. No matter how hard or long the battle, they are going to keep seeking God for the answer.

You will need to be there helping the new and untrained Christians you are ministering to, to understand the issues of their “want.” All during this and other battles, you will be able to use their struggles as a training tool. You will use them to help them see grace, to see God’s forgiveness for them, to see the “want” or delight salvation has created in them, and to see the importance of their forgiving others. Your students or disciples of Jesus will never be so open to training and spiritual growth as they are when they are going through some spiritual battle.
