Mat 5:14-16 (NIV) You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Light

Dark Lamp Shades
Many have eyes that the Father has opened so they can see. But, something is keeping them from being exposed to the light that is in the Christian’s lives. In this case it isn’t a problem of us not having a full light shining in so it can shine out. For some reason there is a bowl put over our light. Instead of our lives being put on a stand for everyone to see, we live our best Christian principles in Christian meetings.

We are the light of the world. And, we sing, testify, give praise and worship to God, present great Biblical truths, and live out our best Christian behavior in front of fellow Christians.
Once we leave our church meetings, we change. The bowl goes back over our heads and we hide our light from those who are living in darkness. Our heavenly Father has opened the eyes of many around us; but we hide the light from them.

We can be glad that the lights in our house don’t all congregate in one room for special light services. After all our lights have had a wonderful time shining together in one special room, they go back to their individual places of service and refuse to light up. Well, maybe they might come on a little bit every now and then. Depending on whether or not we let them know how much we need their light. If we make fun of them, fail to show proper appreciation for their light, or give them too many other things to do; they will absolutely refuse to light up.
