Living It Before You Teach It
Mat 7:5 (NIV) You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
It is true that God has called us all to help others grow spiritually. How are we going to do that and not judge them?
- We have to see our own inadequacies first.
- We have to see how bad our shortcomings really are.
- We have to realize that the problem in other’s lives is nothing in comparison to what we are capable of.

- We have to take our plank before God and let Him deal with it first.
- Once He has helped us get the plank out of our own eye, we give Him the glory for all improvements in our life.
- We then are able to go in humility and love to help someone else with their speck.
But, not everyone we see having a problem is to be helped. Even if we successfully go to God and get the plank taken out of our eye, we must be guided by the Holy Spirit as to whom we should reach out. There are those who will receive our help, those who will reject it, and those who will try to do us harm if we try to help them.
