Temporary And Permanent Enemies Of Jesus
Mat 7:6 (NIV) Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.

Paul, who was at that time called Saul, was holding the garments of those who were stoning Stephen.

Acts 7:58 (NIV) Dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
Paul had his mind made up about Christianity at the moment. We all know that, that is going to change later. However, right now he is a part of the dog pack or the pig herd mentioned in this Scripture. Spouses, for example, have been exposed to extremely abusive treatment from their spouse because of the “turn the other cheek” concept.

While it is true that these abusive people need to see Christianity in action. Sometimes, turning the other cheek isn’t the part of Christianity they need to see. Sometimes, the abusive spouse needs to see how much God loves the abused spouse. When the abusive spouse thinks they see an unconcerned God let the abused spouse be tortured, they lose respect for Him. The abusive spouse may change their attitudes later. But, what should the abused spouse do in the mean time?
