The Effects Of Lying
Here are some cases where lying can be used to cheat people:
  • Reputation: Lie about someone to destroy their reputation.
  • Theft: Lie to get something that rightfully belongs to someone else.
  • Position: Lie to gain power or a position over someone. In some cases, the lie is to make ourselves look better than we are.
When we take this approach, we have taken over our own life and are trying to get things by using human effort to get them. Our motives of our heart have been corrupted by the world. Jesus has been pushed away and we are going after the things of this world with our own goals. Rather than loving and yielding to Jesus and His life and ministry, we have allowed the world to set our goals, plans, aspirations, and purpose. As we walk with Jesus through the Gospels, we see Him not being motivated by the body, the world, or the devil. That is what we are praying for.
