We frequently don’t analyze people by the fruit they produce. We look at the quantity of people following them, how much success they are having financially, how supernatural their miracles are, and how convincing they are. A person can be very charismatic, great looking, popular, financially successful, appear very spiritual and to be mightily used by God, and still not be a person of God.

This passage is saying that many are going to be rejected by Jesus. They will be revealed for who and what they really were. Everything will be clear on the judgment day. However, that is not what should concern us. What should concern us is, how many people will follow them into eternity? Many people will be fooled and follow them into eternity, if they don’t use the fruit analysis method.

Things can sound good to all of us. Great sermons that move us to tears can appear to be messages from God. Many are very impressed with eloquence. People go to church all their lives and learn an incredible amount of Bible.

If you want to know where a Scripture is, they know the answer. When someone has a Biblical question, they can spend hours giving the answer.

These people are well trained, well read, and completely informed. They are so well versed in the Scriptures that they should be ready to be teachers themselves. But, they don’t qualify for any work of God. Matter of fact, God is going to reject them on the judgment day. Why? These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.

Praising God, worshipping Him, talking about Him, and singing songs to Him do not impress Him, if our heart is far from Him. How do we know if we are serving Him with our mouth, but, our heart is far from Him? Here is the answer Jesus gave that explains what He is looking for.
