Rom 7:20 (NIV) Now if I do what I do not want to do, IT IS NO LONGER I WHO DO IT, but it is sin living in me that does it.

If you are ministering to a person who is doing bad things that they do not WANT to do, or failing to do things good that they WANT to do, THEN IT IS NO LONGER THEM DOING IT. BUT, if they are doing things they SHOULDN’T WANT to do but are feeling fine about them; they are not under the control of the Holy Spirit. If they are a Christian, God will cause there to be a separation between them and sin living in them.

But, He will not make that separation in the person who wants to be doing sin things. Why? Because they have not been born again. They and their sins are still one. They will be judged for the sins they are committing.

The person who has the Holy Spirit in them will have the proper ATTITUDES toward sin even if they don’t have the proper DEEDS yet. As a new or untrained Christian, their life will be very inconsistent; but, God’s grace will cover it. Even though they are struggling with being able to forgive, God will accept that WANT in their heart and credit it to their account. With this information, you will be able to know how to deal with each type of person. You will be able to check their WANT and know whether they need salvation or just need healing in that area.
