You Seem To Have A Split Personality
Mat 19:3-9 (NIV) Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?” “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one.
Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” “Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?” Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.” |
What is being said here is that God made a husband and wife one person. There are two spirits involved. But there is only one life. It is like two spirits being put into one body. Our will, plans, goals, desires, and actions need to become one. If they don’t, there is going to be chaos when we decide to walk somewhere. There are times we may even disagree with ourselves. There are moments when we have no idea which way to go. One minute we may decide to go one way. The next minute we think we should go the other.
That is the way the marriage is. It may have two opinions. But, it is only one life. There is only one issue. What would be best for us as a person? There is no me. There is only us. If it isn’t best for the husband, then it isn’t best for the wife. If the wife gets hurt in the decision, then the husband is going to be hurt by the same decision. If the husband is willing to do something that isn’t best for the whole, he is hurting his own self. |
