Adultery
We Can See It In Others 2 Sam 12:1-7a (NIV) The LORD sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him.
Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.” David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, “As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die! He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.” Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!” |
These people we look at are God’s children. He is raising them up as a part of His family. He loves each of them as if they are the only person in the world. When we commit adultery with them even in our hearts, we are spiritually killing and eating them to satisfy our own lusts. When we sin against them to satisfy a few moments pleasure, we destroy their hearts and their lives. God cares about that.
David was a minister of God! God had put His anointing on him and gave him His Holy Spirit. He was responsible for a lot of people. That is the kind of responsibility God is putting on you. It is one thing to make such a spiritual mistake as a new or untrained Christian. It is quite another for a minister of God to make such a mistake. That is why we keep dealing with this subjects year, after year, after year. Luke 12:48 (NIV) But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. |
