Jesus dealt with this issue of peacemaking in great detail later in this sermon. He gave some specific incidents, examples, and procedures for peacemaking. Why? Because these are the people God calls His sons.

While salvation doesn’t produce mature Christianity in a new or untrained believer’s life, it does produce the basics. An infant usually has all the necessary moving parts, he just can’t do much with them. However, there some parts they just can’t live without. If they are born without them, they are born dead.

In First John, the Bible draws out the tests for having been born again, alive.

1 John 1:6 (NIV) If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.
