John 15:13 (NIV) Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Jesus, our Head, didn’t just let Satan maul us. From Genesis to Revelation He has implemented procedures for defeating him. The major aspect of defeating Satan involved Him laying down His life for us. He fought for us and He has given us weapons to defend ourselves.

Eph 5:25 (NIV) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.

Husbands are to lay down their lives for the protection of their wives and family. And by that it has to be clear that dying unnecessarily leaves our families unprotected. We aren’t just throwing our bodies out in harms way. We need to, as much as is possible, stay alive in the process of saving our families from harm.

We have to be willing to put ourselves at risk while using the wisdom and power of God to stay available for them and their needs. Jesus’ death brought a permanent victory for His bride. Plus, He didn’t stay dead!
