Spiritual Component SixPURE IN HEART Well, I sure want that one! None of us want to miss seeing God! A Pure Heart Is Different From A Pure Life
A lot of confusion seems to exist among Christianity about the difference between having a pure heart and living a pure life. There are two provisions of God that deal with purity. They are salvation and sanctification. Salvation provides us with a pure heart. Sanctification starts us on the journey to a pure life. Salvation deals with the penalty of sin. We are no longer going to experience the wages of sins, which is the death penalty. Sanctification deals with the power of sin.

Step-by-step the Holy Spirit teaches us about and delivers us from the powerful hold sin has over various areas of our lives. Salvation handles our relationship with God. Sanctification works on our relationship with people which affects our relationship with God. Salvation is the process where we are given a pure heart as it relates to our record with God. God’s record shows us as having a pure heart. For as long as we ONLY have a pure heart and NOT a pure life, we can’t help the people around us. But, we can’t start heading into a pure life without a pure heart.
EVERYONE has to start with a pure heart. That is why we spend a lot of time teaching about the benefits of salvation and then give the procedures for getting it. The thing about a PURE heart is that it WILL seek a pure life. If a person doesn’t start seeking a pure life, then they don’t have a pure heart. You can see the desperation and intense desire for a pure life in Romans 7:15-25. Even though salvation frees us from all condemnation (Romans 8:1), the true Christian will not be happy with just having righteousness credited to their record. They will be WILLING to study, pray, believe, and take faith-action so it will start flowing through their life. |
