I didn’t start out in life expecting or even wanting great success. If given an assignment, I would really apply myself. I would carry it out using my very best efforts and skills. But, even though I didn’t go around seeking success, certain opportunities just kept coming my way. I seemed to be able to attract people who could help me reach the top in business and politics.

I loved music and got several opportunities to perform. My music opened even more doors; it brought me in contact with people who were in high positions of government and business. I was contacted one day by a man who told me he was going see to it that I got a top position in the biggest, most successful company in the nation. But, it kept looking like that was never going to happen.

The jobs I did get in business were usually in low level positions; but, I would always give them my best. One day I went to a business meeting where they were discussing an opportunity to tackle an assignment that was pretty scary. Even though the benefits were incredible, there would be a lot of personal risk involved. I had, had some past experience in a high risk venture so I volunteered for the position.

Because of my current low level position in the company, most everyone laughed at me and assured me that I was not qualified for the job. But, because there was no one else willing to take it, they went ahead and gave it to me. The top executive worked with me trying to prepare me for the assignment; but, none of his advice and help was going to fit my personality.

I finally set out to accomplish the tasks at hand using my past experiences. To everyone’s surprise, I was a great success. Everyone in the entire company were greatly impressed and gave me a lot of compliments. Some of the top people in the company even started saying that my achievements were far greater than president of the corporation.

Needless to say, that was when things started going downhill. Sometimes my boss would give me some great opportunities; but, most of the time he would try to destroy my career. He started sending me out to remote assignments and giving me menial tasks to do. Most of the time he would do everything he could to sabotage the things I tried to do.

From time to time we would seem to get along and I would start getting my hopes up. He would promise me he would let me do something much more important. Then he would forget his promise and would refuse to give my any opportunities.

I ended up marrying his daughter; when that happened, things really changed. She turned out to be a lot like him. Sometimes she would be supportive and other times she would accuse me of doing things that weren’t true.

Gradually my life became a mess; I fell into feelings of depression, hopelessness, and frustration.

I had been helping one client with a lot of things that were greatly benefiting him. I even made some major personal sacrifices just to take good care of him. But, when I asked him for a small favor, he turned me down. I was in such a bad place emotionally that I seriously considered killing him. If it hadn’t been for his wife coming to talk to me, I really think I would have committed murder.

This major breakdown in my character really woke me up. As I gradually started to realize how low I had become, I turned to God and asked Him to help me. I had always tried to keep my relationship with Him in a good place. But, all the failures, rejections, accusations, and disappointments had caused me to feel like even God couldn’t help me.

From that point on, I really started to get back into the things of God. I had an opportunity to really show my boss up and make him out to be a fool. But, God helped me stop doing those things that would raise me up and make me look good. I started applying Biblical principles to my life and letting God take control of my situations.

To make a long story short, God eventually put me at the top of the entire corporation and made me top executive of the whole thing. I have made some mistakes along the way; but, God has always shown me where I have gone wrong and has helped me get back on track. If He can take me all the way from where I was to being so successful, He can do it for anyone.
