Anger
The Bible says it is okay for you to get mad. Things happen to everyone that frustrate them; and, it is natural for them to get angry. But, Jesus needs to be the One Who helps you decide when it is okay and when it isn’t. It is easy for you to justify yourself, forgive yourself, and explain that you were right to get mad.
Even if you find yourself getting mad about things more often than you should, it may not be an anger problem. If you are being overwhelmed with circumstances or relationship problems that are frustrating you, once the overwhelming aspects of the problems go away, you may find yourself calming down and not getting so mad anymore. If circumstances or relationships are frustrating you, you will need help with you life. But, if your life is fairly normal and you are still struggling with anger, then Jesus needs to bring healing to your emotions.
It is an anger problem when you start reacting or responding to feelings of anger that cause you to say things or do things that attack people’s emotions, their esteem, their confidence, or hurts them physically. If you get mad and then hurt someone emotionally or physically because of it, then it is an anger problem. Jesus is the only One Who can reach down into your heart and bring peace, patience, and love into it.
There are things in your way of thinking that need to be retrained. Your evaluation of situations need to be enhanced by Jesus. He needs to help you look at people and circumstance with a different perspective. He will show you that things aren’t always the way you think they are. He will help you not feel so attacked, cheated, mistreated, and abused. You will get a whole new way of looking and feeling about the issues, circumstances, and people of your life.
If you get so angry that it feels like you are going to have to defend yourself by doing damage to someone, then this is probably the area where you need to get help. If this is the area where you are suffering the most, then it would be good for you to take this study. Just select the “Anger” title in the gray box and it will take you to that study. |
