Condemnation
It is true there will be a day that Jesus sits in judgment over every person who has ever lived on this planet. But, until that day comes, Jesus’ main emphasis is on saving, healing, transfoming, and blessing people. He wants us to ignore those activities and indications that we typically use to evaluate people and provide them with grace and mercy. He is asking us to give up our own opinions, prejudices, critical attitudes, and biases. We have to be able to give EVERYONE a chance to come to God and get His help. You’re The Only One
Sometimes we are the only person who is in a position to help some people. Because of our location, relationship with God, training in God’s Word, and spiritual growth, we can often be the only source some people have for getting their needs met. If we are yielded to God’s love, that He has given us, then these people will be helped; and, they will be helped by someone who is totally yielded to the will of God. Jonah
Read the book of Jonah and see a person who was contaminated with attitudes that almost doomed the city of Nineveh.
|
If God hadn’t worked on him in a very severe way, Nineveh wouldn’t have received the warning they needed. All Jonah had to do was let them know they were in danger of judgment and they would repent. But, he didn’t want them repenting and getting God’s forgiveness. His attitudes and prejudices closed him up as a source of healing for these people. God had to help him at least be willing to go to them and warn them. Enemies
People do things to us and against us that hurt and damage us. When they do, emotions and attitudes build up inside us and cause us to make decisions about them. Whether or not these decisions are justified, God may still want us to give them His message. Rom 12:20-21 (NIV) On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. |
