Obeying Jesus’ Words
If we learn that Jesus knows what He is talking about, we will start doing what He asks. It is a matter of spiritual experiences. You have to experience enough blessings, miracles, and victories so as to convince you He always knows what He is talking about. We all have our own opinions about our life and the way it should be lived. You have certain rules, philosophies, and methods that you have used for most of your life. Jesus’ words typically go against those ideas. As they do, you have to decide which concepts you are going to base your life on.
If you don’t stop for a while and RECONSIDER your life’s principles, then you will live each day of your future the way you lived your past. But, if you start comparing the ways of Jesus with your ways and allow Him to show you the benefits of His ways, you stand a chance of getting God’s will working in you just like it is being done in heaven. You just need to spend some time comparing the difference so as to give God an opportunity to change your mind. Cooperation is the main key for your spiritual growth into the victorious Christian life. The way to cooperate with all the efforts Jesus, the Holy Spirit, your heavenly Father, and the Bible are putting into trying to help you see a better way, is to take out time to compare your way and your results with God’s way and His results. |
It is important for you to understand that all your decisions have and will always be based on what you are convinced is true. God has made your life to belong to you. Salvation gave you your life back so you could decide whether or not and how much of God you want. Most of us Christians believe we are already convinced about God and the things of God. Yet we often live far below the great things He has for us. When we read our Bibles, do devotions and studies, we see a difference between our life and God’s plan for our lives. Why? Because there are areas of our philosophies, principles, and methods where we aren’t completely convinced that God’s way is best for that part of our lives. Ask Jesus to help you see where you still aren’t completely convinced that God’s way is best. Pray that He will help you change your mind in these areas. Ask for as much proof and experiences as is necessary for you to feel comfortable giving them over to God. Ask Him to help you start spending time comparing God’s way with your way. Pray that you will be willing to let Him show you how much better your life will be as you turn these rooms of your heart over to Him, one by one. |
