Can you see Jesus saying that He can’t do anything by Himself? Jesus is God! He should be able to do anything He wants. Why would He NEED to submit Himself to the Father. If we had all that power, positions, possessions, and authority, would we be willing to submit to someone else? What would you do with such power and authority? What kind of being would you be, if you were in control of the universe? God isn’t just God; He is love, gracious, generous, honest, merciful, and has all kinds of wonderful characteristics. He has all power, positions, possessions, and authority; but, He uses them with a character that is totally good. He uses His complete knowledge, limitless wisdom, and total understanding for the benefit of those who are willing to have the same character as He does.

God is sovereign; but He uses that sovernty to be a blessing and give sacrificially.

No one made Him be that way; no one was powerful enough to force Him to be that way; He just chose to be that way; and no one can keep Him from having these gracious and merciful attitudes. But, without Jesus, we wouldn’t know about God’s character. God is a Spirit and we can’t see Him or watch how He acts. So, Jesus came to earth to show us exactly what kind of God our heavenly Father is. Jesus said to Philip, anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. Jesus, by submitting totally to the Father, was able to let you see God for yourself.

Ask Jesus to help you get a change of attitude about submitting to your heavenly Father. Ask Him to help you be another example for the character of God. Pray that He will bless you with His character and empower you to live it out before others. Pray that He will also help you to so submit to Him that when people see you they see the love of God.
